📰 It's a Real Thing

📰 It's a Real Thing

A few months ago I shared some burgers I was eating on Threads. Some of you liked it. I shared more. Some of you asked me questions about it. I realized I wanted to say more than 500 characters would allow. I wanted to share the story about that burger.

When people talk about food, it's often about the thing they had without the context they had it in. The story of why–that place, menu item, time, seating, and company can make all the difference in your opinion. I want to share that complete story. I want you to feel like you're there with me.

That brings me to this newsletter. I had to make a choice. Is this a fun thing or is it a real thing? A real thing means I share regularly. A real thing means I'm thoughtful about what and how I share what I share. I decided I wanted this to be a real thing. A real thing means there are a couple of changes to DoubleStack:

  1. A weekly (approximately) look at an interesting experience like Lord's earlier this week.
  2. Instead of 3-5 restaurants or bars in your inbox per week, I'll publish them to DoubleStack directly. You'll get a once-a-week digest like this with links to those places and more.

With these changes, your inbox will be tidy and I'll be able to share some meta thoughts like this. It should help me publish faster so I can be up to date. There are a couple more things I'm keeping to myself for now but I'll share those soon, starting next week. I appreciate you all being on this ride with me.

If you have feedback, please reach out. I'd like to hear it!

If you enjoy reading these as much as I enjoy sharing them, please consider buying me a coffee. I might just write about it. ☕ Buy me a coffee.

What's New This Week

I finished sharing all the places from Medellín, including a burger. I should get this area to real time shortly so what you see here is what I just had. In the meantime, embrace the warm weather vibes of Colombia.

📍Chum Burgers, Medellín
One of my friends had just flown in so we decided to grab a bite. I was in the middle of that familiar burger craving. My research before leaving didn’t offer too many results. I found a bunch of fast food places that offered burgers and some restaurants that called
📍GENERAL Cafe Bar, Medellín
It was the first of the year. I slept in but closer to 10-11 am, it was time to get on with my day. I fired off a WhatsApp message to my friends asking if anyone wanted to join me and I got no response. Everyone was still asleep. Just
📍Criminal Taqueria, Medellín
After coffee at IMAGO, I went in search of food. The El Poblado area is filled with hotels, hostels, and restaurants. It’s all walkable. Some streets are even closed off to car traffic. I did a lap and saw more coffee places and busy cafes. I was meeting friends soon

Coming up: Szechuan, Ramen, and Burgers.
