📍Burly Coffee, New York City
After brunch, my friend and I usually go grab a coffee somewhere. We went for a walk and found Burly Coffee. It had huge windows. The sun shined straight through to the counter. We saw open seating from the outside. In we went.
The counter was in the center. There was casual seating with couches and low tables on the right. Less casual seating with some tables and chairs on the left. There was no line so it was pretty quick to get to an order. Since I just had brunch I skipped the food.
Normally, I would have gotten a drip coffee. They had a small easel with specials. I saw something called the Hot Honey Latte and I got tempted. I modified it with oat milk. I got it in this beautiful mug with a large C-handle. We took our seats on a shelf along the window with the sun shining through.
This was an interesting drink. First, the latte was exquisitely prepared. The balance felt perfect. The hot honey flavor came from hot honey. It was subdued at the top. The foaminess of the latte muted the spice. During the early couple of sips, I got a lot more sweetness from the oat milk. As I drank it, the latte got sweeter and spicier. It was quite a journey. I've thought about this a few times since I had it. I want to have it again.
If you enjoy reading these as much as I enjoy sharing them, please consider buying me a coffee. I might just write about it. ☕ Buy me a coffee.
