📍Rocka Rolla, New York City
Rocka Rolla is a dimly lit dive bar in Williamsburg. It makes for a great starting point for a night. I made plans to meet up with a friend in the evening but didn't coordinate a specific time. Rocka Rolla was the dive bar the night I went to Ace's Pizza and Ray's Bar.
It was pretty early when I got there. There was still light outside which was remarkable considering it was winter. A couple of other people inside. Everyone had their little corner away from others. Rock music was blasting. Here's a video bringing you inside.

They make a drink called the "Coffee Thing" and it's an appropriate name. It comes from a slushie machine and enters this New York old-school coffee cup. I think it's the only thing they serve in a single-use container. They pour a float of rum on top and stir it. It's all unmeasured. Then a sprinkle of coffee grinds to finish it out.
It's frozen but it's creamy. I don't know if there is dairy in it specifically but it has this latte-like flavor. It's not sweet, it's well-balanced. I'm happier not knowing what's in it. The coffee or rum isn't dominant, unless there was a heavy hand on that rum pour. It is wholly different from an Espresso Martini or an Irish Coffee. It's the coffee thing.
My friend should be joining me soon. Yeah, I'll order another.
If you enjoy reading these as much as I enjoy sharing them, please consider buying me a coffee. I might just write about it. ☕ Buy me a coffee.
