📍Skinny Louie, Miami

The day after visiting Cowy Burger, I went to Skinny Louie. It's on the same block as Cowy but on the other side. They're both part of the vibrant smashburger scene in Wynwood. I knew which places I wanted to go to before I got to Miami, but I hadn't decided on the order. I chose to go here last because they're opening a location in NYC, so if I couldn't fit it in, I was okay with that.
I was working out of a coworking space and walked over around lunchtime. The inside was swarming. It felt like 70% of the indoor space was dedicated to the kitchen. There were two lines, each with its own fenced-in area. One is for delivery and order-ahead operations, and the other is for customers who, like me, choose to order in person. There's a small counter area to eat indoors and seating for around 30 in an outdoor covered patio area.
The menu was pretty small, so I ordered and waited in the crowded area to collect my food. They shout out order numbers through a microphone, so even if you're sitting outside, you'll hear it. I got my order, including my natural sugar glass bottle coke. These are not twist-off, but next to the doorway is a wall-mounted bottle opener.

The menu is pretty simple. It's a couple of permutations of the same burger and fries. All orders come in a takeaway paper bag. Mine was no different; I fished it all out. All fries are the same size. I started with a quick fry. It's a classic, fast food-style lightly salted French fry. Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. Kind of what you want next to a burger like this.
When I pulled the burger out of the bag, the wrapper was wet. It wasn't grease; it was the juices from the beef. It soaked through the bottom of the potato bun as well. The texture was a contrast between the top bun, toothsome griddled onions, crispy beef patty, and wet bottom bun. I don't know if that's the norm or if I had an extreme version of their norm. It worked for me because of how well the beef was cooked.
My Miami burger tour comes to an end for now. At the rate at which these smashburger places expand, I'm guessing this isn't the last I've had of Skinny Louie.
